Nature, healing, and the wisdom we carry with us

About Valerie Lynn
Bridging Cultures, Healing Generations
Newborn Care Specialist · Postpartum Doula · Global Wellness Educator
Hi, I’m Valerie — a newborn care provider and certified postpartum doula with over 15 years of experience supporting families through one of the most tender and powerful times in life: the weeks after birth.
I’ve worked with families across the U.S. and around the world, blending the comfort of time-honored traditions with the real-life needs of modern motherhood.
Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, I’m here to offer calm, hands-on guidance — so you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
Through gentle newborn care, postpartum body support, nourishing meals, and quiet moments of rest, I help mothers feel safe, seen, and deeply cared for — because your recovery matters, too.
A Caring Economist’s Perspective
As a trained developmental economist, I see my work not only as caregiving, but as part of a quiet social shift. More and more families are seeking the kind of postpartum and newborn support that once lived within extended households — care that used to be passed from one generation to the next. I help re-educate families on how women can recover physically and holistically after birth, using wisdom we once trusted — before modern medicine replaced everyday home care in the late 1800s.
My Philosophy: Eco-Postnatal Care
I believe that every baby deserves a calm, confident start — and every mother deserves the support to fully heal, both physically and emotionally. That’s why my care begins with your preferences — whether that means support with your newborn’s feeding and sleep, or help with your physical recovery and emotional well-being.
I provide hands-on newborn care, gentle routines, and guidance to help you feel confident — while also offering traditional healing therapies that nurture the body and restore balance. My approach is holistic, flexible, and rooted in your needs. Postpartum is not just a phase — it’s a foundation for your family’s future
A Global Journey Rooted in Healing
From Recovery to Reconnection
After the birth of my son, I experienced postpartum anxiety and OCD — something I never expected. A year into that struggle, I turned to the traditional postpartum recovery practices of Southeast Asia… and everything changed. I began to heal. I found balance again — naturally, gently, and in a way that truly made sense to my body and spirit.
At the time, I was living in Malaysia, working as an international business consultant across the Asia-Pacific region. But motherhood shifted everything.
In Malaysia, postnatal recovery isn’t an afterthought — it’s a priority. These practices are part of daily life across all communities, and they contribute to some of the lowest postpartum depression rates in the world (just 3%). I immersed myself in this culture of care. I trained with traditional Malaysian Bidan (midwives), earned certification from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and began to understand what we’ve been missing in the West.
It was also during this time that I discovered Tanamera, a trusted Malaysian herbal wellness company. I built a strong relationship with them and became their U.S. representative — helping to introduce their natural recovery products to families across America.
Since then, I’ve devoted my work to helping mothers feel stronger, more supported, and truly cared for — because healing is possible when we honor what the body knows and remember what the world once did well.

My Mission
I believe postpartum recovery — and newborn care — aren’t luxuries. They’re foundations for lifelong health.
My mission is to make world-class, culturally rooted postnatal and newborn care accessible, practical, and empowering for every mother — no matter where she lives or how she births.
Drawing from my background in international consultancy, I approach care the way I’ve always approached strategy:
👉 I seek out the world’s most effective practices and systems,
👉 I study and learn them in depth,
👉 and then I adapt and repackage them for today’s families — with integrity, warmth, and cultural respect.
Whether through my signature 30-Day Recovery Plan, in-home doula and newborn care services, Eco-Postnatal Care™ product sets, or global trainings, I guide families to:
🌿 Heal the mother’s body naturally
🌿 Nourish with time-tested herbal therapies
🌿 Support newborn rhythms, bonding, and daily care
🌿 Rebuild emotional and physical confidence in the 4th trimester
Because every family deserves to begin with strength, clarity, and care grounded in the best the world has to offer.
A Little More About Me
I was born in New Jersey, spent my early professional years in Manhattan, and then spent nearly two decades abroad — living in Japan, the UK, Indonesia, Australia, and Malaysia.
Malaysia became a second home — and still is. While I’m now based in Laguna Beach, California, I maintain a family home in Kuala Lumpur and remain deeply connected to the people, traditions, and wellness systems there.
I earned my Master’s in Economic Development of Southeast Asia from SOAS, University of London, the world’s leading institution for African and Asian studies.
My work has taken me across the globe — consulting with hospitals, wellness platforms, and consulates, and leading postnatal retreats, trainings, and cultural workshops from Los Angeles to Southeast Asia.
I proudly represent Tanamera®, Malaysia’s leading postnatal recovery brand, in the United States.
Outside of my work, I love going on garden walks, spending time in nature, creating herbal recipes — and I’m always up for live music and a great dance floor.
And most of all, I’m a proud mom to Jordan, my teenage son who’s grown up across three continents, Malaysia, U.S. and Australia and continues to inspire everything I do with his insight, resilience, and heart.
